FAQs

What is WordUp Austin?

WordUp Austin is an unconference for discussing and sharpening our WordPress skills. An uncoference is lead by you, the attendee, which is why we’ve built this site. Anyone invited to WordUp is welcome to create their own session and share his or her skills with the group.

How much does it cost?

Nothing! All the costs have been covered by WPEngine, the official host of WordUp Austin. If you haven’t heard, WPEngine is a WordPress-only host that specializes in speed, security, and support. A number of the WPEngine team will be in attendance at WordUp Austin, so make sure you bring all your WordPress hosting questions.

How do I participate?

WordUp Austin is invite only. While we’d like to accommodate all skill sets, WordUp is squarely targeted at the working WordPress professional. If you think you’ve got the skills to pay the bills and you somehow didn’t receive an invite, please contact us.

Who is in charge here?

WordUp Austin is run by a few WordPress nuts that usually run The WordPress Austin Meetup Group. Pat Ramsey, Sandra Chevalier-Batik, and Nick Batik have teamed up with WordPress consultants Bill Erickson and Clark Wimberly to construct an event that we hope will be as fun as it is useful.

What about WordCamp?

WordCamp is still on schdule, happening on Saturday, May 19, 2012. We’re all totally stoked about that event and more details should be coming soon. Consider WordUp just a little way to whet your appetite.
